The Smoky Mountain Chapter Studebaker Drivers Club (SMSDC) meets the second Tuesday of each
month at various restaurants in the Knoxville area. Check the events calendar on this
web site or get in contact with Joe Inman, 865-457-3002, for the location and meeting
information.
In the fall of 1968, John Brichetto and Sam Harvey agreed to promote SDC in the Southern Region
and began forming chapters and developing Studebaker meets. Sometime after the first Tri-state
Meet in Asheville, NC, in 1969, a local meet was held at Concord Park. Owners brought more
than 30 Studebakers to be displayed and admired, and the local chapter grew out of this meet.
There were several Studebaker owners in Knoxville and Maryville who were interested in service
and parts, and, from this nucleus, the chapter continued to grow and to build membership.
Chapter members, who come from all over eastern Tennessee, have formed lasting friendships based
on a common interest in Studebaker cars and trucks.
Membership in the SMSDC is open to anyone interested in Studebaker history or Studebaker
vehicles. It is not necessary to own a Studebaker to belong, but you must be a member
of the international Studebaker Drivers Club to join SMSDC. Annual family dues for the SMSDC,
which includes a subscription to SMOKY MOUNTAIN WHEEL, are $10.
On the left is a link to a form that you can fill out, print, and mail in to join the SMSDC.
